OK, I’ve just launched my own website, and the first thing I post? It’s ‘Analogue Dinosaur’s Rant Volume 1’.
“…GOSH, I hate this gadget-obsessed modern society!!!”
As I mention in my WELCOME message on this site, I’m a shining role model for the analogue generation. I’m not particularly against people who frequently use computers and other mobile devices; it’s rather HOW and WHERE they use them.
The modern technology sure has made our lives easier and more convenient, but proliferation of portable devices has also resulted in proliferation of inconsiderate – or downright rude – people.
I’ve lost count by now how many times I had to stop in my path and take evasive action to avoid those walking straight into me from the opposite direction, totally absorbed in whatever’s happening on their tiny gadgets. On some occasions, I couldn’t quite avoid them bumping into me or shoulder tackling me on a narrow footpath – and many of them wouldn’t apologize, or even glare at me as if I’d done something wrong to them! (WTF?!?!!!)
I think it’s high time that the Australian government banned the use of mobile devices in busy thoroughfares. Seriously.
